PART 2 of a 2 Part blog for Kingston University, expressing everything of design interest that I discover or want to share. From artists that inspire me to other blogs that I feel are engaging and events I have been to, this will be practically my design diary. Make sure you check out PART 1 of this blog, where it explains about who I am, some facts about me and so forth.

Visits & Events - Russian Revolution.

The Russian Revolutionary Posters exhibition displays some fantastic advertisements produced by Russian artists between the 1910's - 1930's. It was located on the 2nd Floor of the Tate Modern, in the poetry and dream section. The Russian art was created when the communist movement decided to take over the printing presses, so that they could print off newspapers, posters, signs and leaflets to gain a winning support for their ideas. All 4 walls were covered in propaganda posters, which made you feel overwhelmed and also a feel the sense of power that the communist government had.

From the 50 posters that I had seen, it was this particular one that caught my eye as I looked at each design. Unlike the other posters which were bod red backgrounds with very dominating type-faces, this one was still very political but it came across in a much calmer way due to the colours and illustration used in this design. I really like how they have portrayed themselves as being on top of the world, and people following them which is my eyes sort of relates to the whole supporting the communist and eventually they will take over the world.
